Depending on how wild you are going, removing as much of the hump in the exhaust port as you can, and opening up the bowls under the valves is the normal thing to do. Don't polish the intake ports. If you need more flow, a set of CJ valves, at least the exhaust, will help too...

This could be a problem if the engine is under a high load for a long period of time. The compression might a bit high but if you can get at least 91 octane fuel they will work fine.

The parts catalog lists different part numbers for 391 cylinder heads and gaskets as compared to FE's.
