If a choice between the 289 and the 86 5.0L heads I would go the the 289 heads. The E5 heads are different from the E7's. The E5 has 69 CC chambers and very restrictive exhaust ports. This has meant, at most, installing 1.94 intakes and 1.6 exhausts blending the seats into the port bowl, skinnying the guide boss some and there you go flow up from about 155 at 0.500 to about 190 with a similar increase on the exhaust.
