SpletIn a Civ 3 game I'm still running way past the end date I started alone on one giant island right at the top that had all the resources I would need in the early-mid game (and a few later game ones too). I was the Vikings so I just sat there and amphibious assaulted anyone who declared war on me. Got plenty of free workers that way.
